We are delighted that we are able to offer boarding opportunities for Year 5 and 6 pupils at The Elms.
Younger boarders will be housed within the junior section of our boarding houses, which are located in the Trent College Main School Building on our shared campus.
Boarding pupils are encouraged to get on with everyone in their House, as any child would in their family home.
Our resident staff are there to ensure all pupils receive lots of support so they feel happy and safe. We appreciate that for our youngest children boarding is a big step from living at home, so we take great care in ensuring the children settle in well into their new environment. This includes monitoring homework that is set and ensuring they are up and ready for school in the mornings as well as working closely with their class teachers at The Elms. A member of staff also escorts the children over to The Elms in time for morning registration and back after their afternoon activities.
For our youngest boarders we offer 'flexi-boarding', which means children can board for 2 - 4 nights per week to best suit their family needs, to coincide with parental working commitments and extra-curricular activities for example.
You may also consider flexi-boarding because your child usually has a long journey into school and this will reduce their time travelling during the week, or to give your child the opportunity to see if they like boarding, or just because that’s how many nights away from home you feel comfortable with and is most appropriate for your family.
