At The Elms we have a whole school approach to the teaching and learning of PSHEE and Citizenship.
Our aim is to give our children the knowledge, skills and understanding that they need to lead confident, healthy, independent and productive lives in our ever changing and increasingly demanding world. The children receive a timetabled session each week, enabling us to plan for progression throughout the school.
Resources such as ‘R Time’, ‘Folens’ and ‘Keep on Track’ are used. This is reviewed on a regular basis to ensure that our content remains relevant to the interests and experiences of the children. In addition to this PSHEE issues are explored through assemblies, School Council meetings and other curriculum subjects such as English, Drama, RE, PE and Geography.
Throughout the school year a variety of activities, across the year groups, take place which help to develop healthy living, raise self-esteem and encourage a sense of community. Residential visits, visiting speakers and theatre groups all play a vital role in this development.
