Entry to The Elms School

Following a visit to The Elms, you may register your child for a place. Entry is usually at Nursery or Reception, and there is an additional intake at Year 3 (7+) where we move from having two class forms per year group to three forms. Occasionally, we have places in other age groups, Please contact us for details.

The formal offer to accept the child as a pupil is conditional upon the Head of The Elms having evidence through interview and/or testing, or a report from the previous School, that the child has reached an appropriate standard both academically and socially. Once the Head of The Elms is satisfied that these conditions have been fulfilled, a Contract will be made on valid acceptance by the parents of a formal offer of a place at the School. An acceptance fee of £100 is payable at the time of contract and will not be returnable if the place is not taken up. The acceptance fee is designed to demonstrate parental commitment to the School over a number of years. It is held against any disbursements which are outstanding at the end of the final term of a pupil's time within the School.  A refund of the deposit, less any disbursements, is forwarded to the parent toward the end of September following the child's final term at the school in the previous July.

Application for places in Year One (5 years+) and Year Two (6 years+) are by more formal assessment, which includes a day's visit, incorporating reading, writing and some mathematical assessment. Written test are administered at Key Stage Two (7-11 years).
