Reception 4 - 5 years old:

Our Reception children benefit from excellent opportunities for outdoor education, learning and play. The well qualified and experienced teaching staff and excellent pupil/adult ratio ensure quality curriculum delivery and high level of pastoral care within the six areas of learning. Pupils may enter Reception in the September following their fourth birthday. Our children have access to the finest resources, visits by outside agencies such as the local Police Force and Fire Station and opportunities for performances and parental involvement.

We aim to provide

• A caring environment where children may explore and repeat experiences according to their needs
• An atmosphere in which every child and adult feels secure, valued and confident
• A broad, balanced and relevant curriculum appropriate to the social, emotional, spiritual and intellectual development of individual children
• An approach to learning geared towards the needs of young children emphasising first hand experiences, play and talk

• Encourage children to be self-motivated, independent and questioning
• Involve parents in their child's education
• Involve the Foundation Stage in the life of the school and vice versa
• Enable the children to make effective transition from home to Foundation Stage into Key Stage One
