Dear Parents
I would like to welcome you back to The Elms at the beginning of what looks to be a very busy Trinity Term in Year 5. We have many exciting activities planned for the children this term.
Our topic in Geography will be focusing on Water, looking at Rivers, The Water Cycle and Water Conservation. We are also looking forward to our residential visit to Cranedale which will enhance the children’s learning in Geography, Science and other curriculum areas.
In English the children will be continuing with ‘Big Writing’, the initiative which aims to raise standards in writing through fun and innovative activities. In Mathematics we will be building on the knowledge the children gained in previous terms in Year 5 as well as continuing to develop their mental maths skills. The children will also be completing their Year 5 end of year assessments in Maths, English and Science.
On certain days of the week your child will need to remember specific kit or equipment and be prepared for particular subjects. These are as follows:
· Monday – Come to school in gym kit
· Tuesday – Spelling Test
· Wednesday – Music (recorder and green music bag) and Swimming Kit
· Friday – Games kit
If you have any concerns of questions regarding your child, please feel free to make an appointment to come and see me.
Yours sincerely
