Dear Parents
Junior Sports Day
Thank you for turning out last Friday to support our Sports Day. The Infant Sports Day was a great success in the morning. However, the weather was not kind to us in the afternoon and we had no alternative but to cancel the Junior Sports Day due to the risk of slipping on the field in the rain.
This very short half-term, coupled with the preparations for Speech Days at The Elms and Trent as well as various events across the campus, means it is not possible for us to schedule this planned event at another point in the calendar. I also appreciate that it is not easy for parents to take additional time off from work to come and support these events.
However, not to disappoint the children, we are organising an informal inter-House sports event for the last day of term for Junior (Year 3 – Year 6) pupils. Unfortunately we are not able to entertain parents at this event as space on the field is severely restricted. Weather permitting, this should be a really happy end to a very busy term.
I am very aware of the huge amounts of baggage that children seem to need to take home at the end of term, so I am asking that children in the Juniors come to school on the last day of term in their PE kit, with no requirement to bring school uniform to change into. Hopefully, this will make life a little easier for children (and parents!).
With best wishes
