Sport plays a key part in the lives of the children at The Elms, from the early beginnings of physical development in our Nursery and Preschool right through to representing the U11A team at IAPS tournaments.
The benefits reach far beyond the physical developments that participating in sporting activities provides. Our children develop a sense of enjoyment of an active lifestyle, understand the health benefits of taking regular exercise whilst also building emotional intelligence through discovering the rewards for their endeavours, the delight in fulfilling your dreams and learning to accept with grace when you are beaten by a better team.
Each week the children participate in a range of sporting and physical activities in timetabled lessons including gymnastics, swimming and athletics in PE and the main games of netball, hockey and rounders for girls and rugby, cricket, hockey and football for boys. Sporting opportunities are enhanced through our extra-curricular programme which includes cross-county running, cycling, tennis and basketball.
The Elms prides itself on competing at the highest level and enjoys great success against local rivals in the weekly Wednesday fixture programme and regional IAPS tournaments, whilst also creating development opportunities for all abilities through Sport for All.
