Pupils contribute to Open Morning success

The Mission: Discovery Open Morning on Saturday 6th October proved to be a smash hit with record numbers of prospective parents and pupils attending to explore The Elms.

Challenges were positioned around the school to facilitate the discovery of different areas. For example in the library there was a hunt for golden tickets and our Forest School staff kept everyone busy making a kite from natural materials.

To help the visitors navigate around the school were over 20 Elms along with Year 7 pupils from Trent College whom recently transitioned from Year 6. To tie into the event theme, pupils were aptly titled Mission Guides!

The Elms are strong believers that there is no-one better to show you around the school and offer a true insight into school life than our pupils. Mrs Faith Potter, Head explains, “By offering the opportunity for our pupils to take on roles of responsibility, it enhances their self-esteem and confidence allowing their pride of the school to shine through.”

Mrs Hayley Grange, Admissions Manager for The Elms was, “Immensely proud of all of the Mission Guides who kindly offered their Saturday morning to assist the school. It was delightful to see our pupils talking to the prospective students and helping them with the challenges. They reflected all of the school values and behaviours that make up the culture we have at our school; kindness, respect, courage, honesty and appreciation.”

For families who could not attend the Mission: Discovery Open Morning, an invitation is extended to attend a personal tour to see what our wonderful school has to offer. To arrange this, please contact Admissions on 0115 849 4940 or email Mrs Hayley Grange, Admissions Manager at
